Mystery Trip
This weekend was beautiful, weather-wise. We did a ton of yardwork on Sunday (cutting away some of the damn ivy from the previous posts) and later that evening we grilled out. John (a friend of mine from work) Joanna, her friend from Phoenix, and Daisy (Jo's dog) came over. We drank margaritas (thanks, Jo) and ate burgers, corn, baked potatoes, and ice cream sandwiches. Daisy ate leftover corn cobs. It felt like the beginning of summer...And then it started snowing an hasn't stopped for the past 2 days. It has seriously been comical. Our neighbors have rows of gorgeous tulips, covered in snow. I really don't mind it. After two days of weather in the 70s, you really don't mind a good snowstorm. I wish it was like that all year round - highs in the 80s one day, blizzard the next. It would definately be more interesting.
So the past couple of days have been fairly uneventful for us. We've been spring cleaning out house, inside and out, so we've been listing things we don't need on ebay and selling the bigger stuff on Craigslist. We hope to get some yardwork done this week, since we'll be out of town this weekend.
Where are we going? I DON'T KNOW! About a month ago, Chris told me to block the weekend of April 21st, because we're going somewhere, and it's a surprise. We're leaving early Friday morning and getting back Sunday night. I can't believe how well he keeps a secret! I'm dying to know where we're going, but the boy won't spill it. He's been giving me "clues" this week, though. Monday's clue was a packing list, which blew my theory that we were going camping, because why would I need a dress to camp in? Other things on the list include sunglasses and a bikini, so it's probably not Jackson Hole, which was another of my guesses. Today's clue was a word jumble that I haven't been able to figure out. Wherever we're going, I'm totally excited!!!!!!!

Not Dial-up Friendly, Part II
The tree from the previous post, full view.
I found this old can while digging up the sand pit in our back yard (we're turning it into a garden). It's a 7-up can with an advertisement for a contest that ended in September 1992. The can hasn't decomposed a bit. It really makes you think about the importance of recycling.Thursday, April 13, 2006
Not Dial-up Friendly
Last weekend was gorgeous. We had Friday off, and it was a beautiful day. Surprising, since it had snowed like fuck just the day before. I got a pedicure in the morning while Chris was at the zoo, and then we met up with Jo for a sushi lunch. Chris and I then set out to buy our grill, which has turned out to be the best purchase ever. In one of those "only in Utah" moments, we saw a missionary in a full suit shoveling snow from someone's driveway in 70 degree weather. Only. In. Utah.Saturday was no less beautiful than Friday, and we got up early to go to a trim class from 9-11am at the Utah Historic Society. We were starving afterwards, so we took the opportunity to go to the Blue Plate for breakfast and sit outside. We followed that with lots of time spent in the yard and putting our grill together. It was one of the best days of my life.
And now, pictures...
Damn power lines.
Chris telling all about the importance of buying Peruvian coffee. I gave up caffiene for Lent, however, and didn't want to talk about it.
Rusty bike chained up at the Blue Plate. Note the snow still on the ground.
We have a gorgeous tree that arches over the walkway to our front door that is in full bloom.More pictures to come later, when my image loader thingy isn't being a bitch.

Snow!
It was balls-out snowing when I got up this morning. When we left the house, big fat flakes were coming down, but it was so warm outside that they were melting as soon as they hit the ground, creating a perfect rainy-day scene, except with snowflakes instead of rain drops. I love living in Utah.I'm excited for Summer though, not only because Summer is my favorite season, but also because we're going on vacation!!!!!! We're taking June 1st to June 17th off. We're going to spend 10 days in Spain and Morocco and then spending 5 days in New York City when we get back. I can't wait.
We started a conversational Spanish class last night, because we thought that we should learn a little bit of Spanish so that we don't have to stay in the major cities the entire time we're in Spain.
Speaking of classes, we had our ballroom dance class tonight, but it was cancelled. We only have a couple weeks of that left, and I'm kind of sad. I don't know if we'll do another one next semester, because there are so many other classes that I want to take.
Because I'm a spoiled brat, I don't have to work tomorrow. Chris has a zoo event tomorrow morning, so I'm going to sleep in a little bit, get up and go to an appointment I have to participate in a heartburn study (which I have alllll the time), get a pedicure, and then meet my honey for a sushi lunch downtown. I'll be on foot all morning, and with any luck I will remember my camera and take some pictures of Springtime in Salt Lake City for this here blog.
Oh, and I did manage to get a slightly better "after" picture of our dining room. I don't know why I can't take a decent one:
