Happy New Year, Eh?
Vancouver for New Year's was great fun. I love Canada! The city was great, it felt like New York City on the West Coast. It was 10 or 15 degrees warmer than Salt Lake, which was nice, despite the rain. It was pretty overcast all the time, but I gather that it always is. We spent a lot of time doing nothing, just wandering around the city and enjoying being together.New Year's Eve was the 4th anniversary of our first date. It's been 4 years since I got the balls to ask Chris to go out with me. We wandered down to the water, and were planning to take the Aquabus to Granville Island, but decided not to, as the man who drives the Aquabus was almost done for the night. So we leisurely wandered back toward the vicinity of our hotel, stopping in for drinks wherever we felt like it. We went out for a tasty Indian dinner, and then went out drinking on Robson Street, where we rang in the New Year. It was a very energetic crowd, and people were still laying on their horns all up and down Robson Street at 1am.
We spent 4 nights total in Vancouver, and a night in Seattle. The night in Seattle wasn't planned - we missed our flight. We didn't totally miss it, we were just running late enought that we thought we were going to miss it. So we called Southwest and changed our flight. We made the most of it, going out for a delicious meal near Pike's Market. Unfortunately, we had to get up at 4am. That part was not so great. Neither was getting into Salt Lake City and going straight to work.
We pretty much spent the first week of January recovering from the holidays and New Year's. We slept a TON this past weekend. I guess we were exhausted, deep down inside. We had so much to do in November and December, with the remodeling project, the holidays, and holiday parties that we were so excited to have a weekend to do nothing. And that's just what we did. We managed to go out to dinner and go bowling on Friday night, and we drank a couple of bottles of wine with Steph and Tom on Saturday night. Oh, and I built a closet on Sunday because I'm psycho and can't lay off the home improvement projects for a second. We already had the boards and everything; they had been sitting in the closet since before November, and it was driving me crazy. It looks great, though.
As far as New Year's Resolutions go, yeah, I suppose I have some. I always make some. I'm running out of time though, so I'll save that for next time.
