January Thaw

Okay, the cold spell has been over for a while now. In fact, it's going to be in the 40s next week. Sweet. Weather.com asserts that we are on the upswing from here on out, but I'm not going to get my hopes up, as I recall nearly every February in my life being sad, weather-wise.

Something weird has happened to us since the New Year. We suddenly have Free Time, and lots of it. We finished our latest home improvement project just before Christmas. Then we went to Vancouver, and when we got back the holidays were over and we had nothing to do. Our schedules look like this:

Mon: Work, Gym, FREE TIME
Tues: Work, Class, FREE TIME
Wed: Work, Community Council (for Ami), FREE TIME
Thurs: Work, Gym, FREE TIME
Fri: Work (every other week), FREE TIME
Sat: Gym, FREE TIME
Sun: Gym, FREE TIME, Desperate Housewives

We have wedding shit to do, and Chris has zoo obligations sometimes, but overall it's like we've died and gone to a retirement community. Granted, our free time during the week is only an hour or so, but it's still time to read, or play a game, or watch an episode of something we've gotten from the library. The weekend is particulary glorious. We have time to cook elaborate meals, have people over, read, play games, play with our cats, plan vacations we can't afford to take, or whatever.

We have gone to see a movie TWICE in the last two weeks. I normally don't see movies, because I have no attention span. But I've discovered that if you have little or nothing to do, a movie is actually really fun. Next time I write I will tell you about our movie experience last weekend, or more appropriately our pre-movie restaurant experience, which I will henceforth call "Fish N' Chips N' COCK". Now you're interested.

In short, life is good, and I've been having a great time living it, lately. I used to dislike the end of winter, but now I kind of like the slow pace of it all.
