Possibly The Most Eventful Month Of My Life

Chris and I were married on June 30th. It was a fabulous day, or make that a fabulous few days, because the party started on Wednesday night and didn't stop until Saturday night. Or Sunday morning, technically. I never expected to have so much fun at my own wedding, but I can't remember the last time I had such a good time. It was so great to have our families and friends all in one place. I kept thinking "oh my god, this is our wedding"! It didn't seem real.

Then, on Monday morning, Chris and I left for Peru. We got bumped to First Class for the flight from Atlanta to Lima, and now I'm convinced that First Class is the only way to go. Would I like a glass of champagne before we take off? Why yes, I would. And we were served meals! On china! I had only flown First Class once before. It was a work trip, and the flight was only from San Diego to Salt Lake City. And while I drank an impressive amount of Courvoisier (it was a phase) for such a short flight, there was no meal and no new husband to play UNO with me and listen to me freak out that We! Are! In! First! Class!

Peru was absolutely enchanting. The Peruvians we encountered were some of the friendliest people either of us have ever met. There was a small glitch in our plans due to a nationwide transportation strike, which forced us to cancel our trip to Lake Titicaca. But we spent time in Lima, Cusco, and the jungle, and we made it to Machu Picchu which was INCREDIBLE.

We were in Peru for a little over 2 weeks, and then we left for Mexico. We spent 4 (glorious) nights in Mazatlan. We ate amazing food and got sunburned (yep, even me). We rented a wakeboard and rode on a "banana boat" while hanging on for dear life. We built sandcastles and drank margaritas and danced to a Mexican band with a sultry female vocalist. It was a great end to a great trip. What is it about the ocean that makes you feel so alive?

We arrived back in Salt Lake City this past Sunday, and it felt great to be home. We've spent this week spending time with friends and trying to unpack and remember what our routine was like before we abandoned it for a month. Tonight we're going for drinks and dinner with Scott and Jessica, and we have tomorrow off. No need to get back to reality just yet.
