Mmmm, Sharpie
We have the best neighbors ever. When we got home last night there was a spaghetti squash on our porch. It had a ribbon tied around it and "Happy Thanksgiving from The [Neighbors]" written on it in black sharpie. And if that wasn't enough, there was also a be-ribboned can of tuna with "For The Kitty" on it. Oh my god I almost died. How completely awesome. Spaghetti squash! And yes, we grow our own spaghetti squash and have several in the basement, but STILL. This squash will almost certainly taste better. Sharpie has that effect. So this leaves me with a dilemma. How do we go about having the neighbors over? We should have just invited them over when we had our housewarming open house, but I was harried and didn't get around to it, and that opportunity has come and gone. We're friendly with them, as in, we chat when we're all out doing yardwork, but it's never really gone further than that. I'd like to invite them over for a beer, but I don't have any idea if they drink or not. I'd have them over for dinner, but they have 2 (adorable) little girls so I don't think a typical "come over for dinner and chitty chat" type thing would be best. We should have invited them to grill out this summer, but we were kind of busy what with a wedding and the subsequent honeymoon and trying to maintain the relationships that we already HAVE, for the love of god, that it just didn't happen. But now I want to have them over because anyone who leaves a treat for our cats is a-okay by me.
But it isn't going to happen this weekend, because we are leaving shortly for Denver, where we'll have Thanksgiving with Chris' family. Armed guards will be watching our house so stalkers stay the fuck away from our festive holiday spaghetti squash.

How about having them over for holiday snacks in a couple weeks? You know Xmas cookies, snacky stuff then you could get little stocking stuffer type gifts for the girls to keep them busy while you chat up the parents. What nice neighbors!
Happy Thanksgiving!!
That's a good idea! Especially the little gifts for the girls. I think they are about 5 and 6, so they could stay entertained for a little while.
