My Thanksgiving was great. It was all of the usual good things about Thanksgiving with an added bonus of me finding and buying the cutest peep toe shoes on Saturday. AND! If that wasn't enough, we also did Christmas with Chris' family, since we won't see them for actual Christmas, so I also got presents! Wunderbar.

Now that our Denver trip is over, for the first time a very long time, we have 0 trips planned. We'd like to go somewhere this Spring or early Summer, but then there is the issue of are we going to have a kid soon? And like, don't they cost money? But that's a whole 'nother post.

Mmmm, Sharpie

We have the best neighbors ever. When we got home last night there was a spaghetti squash on our porch. It had a ribbon tied around it and "Happy Thanksgiving from The [Neighbors]" written on it in black sharpie. And if that wasn't enough, there was also a be-ribboned can of tuna with "For The Kitty" on it. Oh my god I almost died. How completely awesome. Spaghetti squash! And yes, we grow our own spaghetti squash and have several in the basement, but STILL. This squash will almost certainly taste better. Sharpie has that effect.

So this leaves me with a dilemma. How do we go about having the neighbors over? We should have just invited them over when we had our housewarming open house, but I was harried and didn't get around to it, and that opportunity has come and gone. We're friendly with them, as in, we chat when we're all out doing yardwork, but it's never really gone further than that. I'd like to invite them over for a beer, but I don't have any idea if they drink or not. I'd have them over for dinner, but they have 2 (adorable) little girls so I don't think a typical "come over for dinner and chitty chat" type thing would be best. We should have invited them to grill out this summer, but we were kind of busy what with a wedding and the subsequent honeymoon and trying to maintain the relationships that we already HAVE, for the love of god, that it just didn't happen. But now I want to have them over because anyone who leaves a treat for our cats is a-okay by me.

But it isn't going to happen this weekend, because we are leaving shortly for Denver, where we'll have Thanksgiving with Chris' family. Armed guards will be watching our house so stalkers stay the fuck away from our festive holiday spaghetti squash.

Thank God That's Over

I just finished a weekend that seemed like it was two weeks long. I was ready to come back to work this morning. I'm a freak, I know. Let's touch on the highlights:

Thursday: Sushi with Chris at 10pm, because he didn't get home from work until 9:30pm. I watched The Office for the first time, and it wasn't very good.

Friday: Day off, woo! Errands. Gym. Went to Brewvies to see "We Own The Night" at 10pm. It wasn't that great but Eva Mendes, yum.

Saturday: Lazy. Went out with Jessica for her birthday and didn't get home until 3am.

Sunday: Felt better than you would think. Had bar voice. Went to a play in the evening that wasn't very good, but it was good to get my hangover out of the house.

Scattered throughout the weekend I played Donkey Kong as much as possible. I made it to the 6th screen. I haven't been obsessed with a video game like this since Super Mario Brothers 3. Oh, how I've missed my boyfriend Mario.

I just realized that I never updated about the night we went to see Old Crow Medicine Show. It was a Wednesday night, and we decided to go out for sushi before the show. What that as to do with the fact that it was a Wednesday, I don't know. Anyway, all of this rambling to tell you that guess who was at Takashi eating across from us? Andrew Firestone!! And his fiancee. When we left I called Joanna immediately to tell her, because she's a big "The Bachelor" fan.

The show was absolutely amazing. They are such an incredibly talented band. And! They went on within an hour of start time, for which they have my eternal respect. I had the foresight to take the following morning off work, for which I have eternal self-respect. Good decision, Ami. Chris and I slept in and then went to the Blue Plate Diner for brunch. It felt like we were retired. Heh.

Worst Post Ever

Monday night = Bachelor Night with Jo and Melissa
Tuesday night = Beer drinking night with Jessica
Wednesday = Dehydration and zero blog fodder

All of the above = Picture Day

Let's remember back to Halloween, shall we? See it through my eyes, as the drunken blur it was. I was a black widow and Chris was a viking.

The weekend after Halloween we harvested what was left in our garden. Last harvests are sad.

Also that weekend, I was invited to attend the unveiling of our mayor's official portrait (because of the Community Council that I volunteer with). I got to wear and suit and take Chris and there was free booze and appetizers. Do you really need to know more than that to know that I had a good time? I heart our mayor, and the portrait was really great. They handed out little mini-versions of it so I can remember him forever. Cute!

ALSO that weekend was my cat Roxanne's TENTH birthday. Holy shit, I'm old! I got Roxy when she was a wee 8 week old kitten. I was 18, and a sophomore in college. I'm kind of surprise I managed to keep her alive through my drunken late teens/early twenties. I love this cat more than life itself, so to celebrate her birthday I gave her half a can of tuna. She was in HEAVEN.

But then she had a little bit of a tuna hangover.

THE END.

Did You Guys See That Game Last Night?

Go San Diego!!

I am proud to say that I didn't leave the house at all yesterday. Chris is sick, he even stayed home sick from work today. So we spent yesterday playing video games and watching episodes of the second best show ever, The Gilmore Girls.

On Saturday we went to the Utah vs. Wyoming game, which did not end well. Let's just say Utah 50, Wyoming 0. We went to cheer for Wyoming, of course (it being Chris' alma mater). It was still fun, though. A few people from work came over to tailgate beforehand, and we grilled and drank beers. Outside. In November. It was 65 degrees! What the hell. So strange.

And continuing to work backwards, we spend Friday night in, and it was everything I hoped it could be. I went to the gym after work while Chris did some studying, and then I made vodka pasta. We watched Borat afterwards, and OH MY GOD why didn't anyone tell me how funny this movie is????????? We were dying. We watched all of the deleted scenes.

If You Don't Want To Know

About my menstrual cycles, stop reading now. Fair warning.

Okay, so I got my period today. What the hell?!? For those of you playing along at home, that means the four cycles that I have been off hormonal birth control (which I had been on for over 10 years) have been as follows:

August 31 days
September 24 days
October 28 days
November 26 days

How the hell is a girl supposed to avoid getting pregnant with data like this? I ASK YOU.

Alright, I'm a slacker and need to update. I meant to do it yesterday but we got up a half-hour early to go an vote (so deep is my commitment to the democratic process) so I felt "off" all day. If you are wondering how I voted,

Mayor: Ralph Becker
City Council: Nancy Saxton
School Vouchers: Against
Property Tax Increase for New Police Buildings: For

The Mayor and School Vouchers turned out the way I wanted, but not so for City Council and the Property Tax Increase. 50%/50% is not bad, I usually hold the unpopular opinion.

Tonight we are going to see Old Crow Medicine Show at my favorite, favorite venue, so I have to run. BUT! I will update tomorrow.
